{ Crossing Over }
So I did it. I almost did it 3 years ago but somewhere along the way was smitten by a cute little Sony Vaio and therefore, it never happened. To be honest, I wasn’t ready then. But I am SO ready now.
Say hello to my new bebe:
The MacBook Pro. Shiny, sleek, speedy, and full of bright colors that I just can’t get enough of. And was anyone else as excited as I was about the welcome video that plays when you turn it on for the very first time? My mind thought “I’m never going to get to see this again”, my hand reached for my camera, and before I knew it, I had taken a picture of the welcome video. Yes I did.
In other news, I rented the 70-200mm 2.8 IS lens this weekend and got to play with it a bit. It is definitely next on my (neverending) list of lenses to buy. It was sharp, focused lightening fast, and didn’t snap my arm in two, which is totally what I was expecting from the behemoth of a lens. Below are just a couple shots I grabbed with it in Downtown Culver City (had dinner at Ugo – their dessert selection is mindblowing!)
So close! It’s like I can touch them!
I think this last one was taken with my 50 mm but just wanted to include it since it reminds of how crisp and beautiful Saturday morning was, and how summer is right around the corner! It’s going to be an exciting couple of months and I’ll do my best (better than I have been doing hopefully) of posting it all up on here!

very very nice! the 70-200 f2.8 IS is on my list as well. I was going to get the non-IS but I think the IS may come in handy sometimes. You can get it with instant rebate for $1575 now! have until July tho, so no rush =P I’m still thinking, mainly worried that once I buy it, Canon will come out with an updated version of it…

ironically, i just sold my iBook today. i had a vaio before that and literally drop-kicked it across campus junior year. enter iBook. i plan on getting a macBook to replace aforementioned iBook.
i heard Ugo was overrated, but i will try it since you said something about mindblowing.

ooh..i’ve been using a mac for about 5 years now..i use it at home and at work :) i have an imac at home and love it! i started with a powerbook but the screen broke so now it’s just sitting in my bag :( i miss having a laptop. what size did you get, 15″ or 17″? anyways, enjoy your new computer! :) and as for the 70-200 f/2.8 IS, is there a shop you can rent from? i’ve never done it so i’m not too familiar with it…i have the 70-200 f/4 non IS and love it so far (it’s only been a couple of months). can i ask you what camera body you use? i have the xti.

zOMG that’s pretty. =)
I borrowed my friend’s 70-200 non-IS lens for a graduation. Even the pics I took on accident were sweet. =)
you should come take pics of us climbing (and/or come climbing)

@dimsom –
Thanks for letting me know about the rebate deal! I heard the difference between the IS and the non-IS is huge. Like when you make the switch from one to the other you just want to throw the non-IS out the window. haha.
@conichung –
Congrats on selling your iBook! Yeah, you should give Ugo a try if you get a chance. I had a filet mignon panini with a really good side salad. The dessert selection is crazy. They don’t have a dessert menu – you just get up and go to the counter and ogle all the delicacies. I sampled the mascarpone gelato and it was spectacular.
@minteefoto –
Ooh 5 years. That’s part of why I wanted a Mac… because of their longevity! Mine is a 15″. As for the lens, I rented it from a local place (Belair Camera) in LA. I heard borrowlenses.com is a good place to rent, they ship it out to you and you ship it back. My body is a Canon 40D.
@owbert –
Woo hoo! Good to know :)
@sdohana –
Very cool! What kind did you get?
@gonchoi –
You should get one! I’m very happy with it so far :)
@Lawrence –
Haha I’m sorry! I’ve crossed over to the dark side! Just watch… next I’m going to be shooting on Nikons. Just kidding!! Never, never. haha.
@Eutychus22 –
I feel you dude – I totally asked someone if I would be able to play Starcraft on my Mac before purchasing. haha. And I’d love to take pics of you climbing/come climbing! I’ve never gone so I’d be a total n00b though.

I was thinking that you were going to talk about how you got a new Sony and I could feel the eyes in my head rolling back… but then I saw the picture of the mac! WOO HOO! I converted last August and it’s been amazing. I love my MBP so much. Love love love it. :) Our MBP’s should have a play date sometime!

i’ve used mac since the late 80s so i know nothing about pc. whenever i see my pictures on a pc, they look much darker. have you noticed a difference?
June 3rd, 2008 at
@hypercarrots –
Wow late 80s! Were you playing Oregon Trail all the time? haha. I’ve noticed that the colors on my Mac are more vivid but I didn’t notice if the picture overall was darker. Will do some specific comparisons soon!
