{ cecile + volt | downtown LA engagement }

Love how much these two laugh – they cracked each other up the entire afternoon and I barely had to dig into my usual arsenal of oh-so-hilarious jokes :) We wandered around some of my favorite places in downtown including Little Tokyo, where we happened upon the newly opened ‘lette. I’m usually the first to run towards macarons, but was happily surprised to find Volt & Cecile beelining for the store before me – definitely my kind of clients! :)

Their wedding will be my last for the year and I’m so excited to be there to capture it and celebrate with them!

That “click” that I look for with couples? The one at the initial meeting {that feels a bit like a first date}, where we’re getting to know each other over coffee and tea, connecting through our personalities, finding the ground where my photos match their visions? I felt that click with Jenny and Randall right away :) I was so excited when they chose me as their photographer and knew that their engagement session would be just amazing! I was so on board with their idea of Cal State Northridge, the place where they fell in love – we wandered through the orange groves and finished up at the art department where they first met. As we sat along the nostalgic tables, covered with beautiful scribbles from various art students, and they painted lovely bird houses, just a few of the dozens that will make appearances throughout their wedding day.

I seriously had so much fun exploring the campus with them and can’t wait until their wedding!

I always get so so excited when couples decide to do their engagement sessions at home, a place that by default is filled with special memories, cozy corners, and a relaxing atmosphere. And it’s just an added bonus when their home happens to be as beautiful and bright as this one. Myesha & Craig’s house is perched up in those twisty hills of Silverlake, with ridiculous views of the city, a lush backyard, and the most lovely hand-picked pieces (be still my mid-century-modern-loving heart!) Walking in, holding my camera, I had a brief one of those moments – the ones where there is so much pretty everywhere {including the gorgeous couple!} and you have no idea where to start first. But we started with one colorful corner, and then moved along to another one, and in the end I drove home with a big smile and a memory card full of these photos. In addition to being fantastically stylish, Myesha and Craig are so fun and down-to-earth – can’t wait for their wedding in just a couple months!
