{ anh + todd | kite engagement photos }

Sometimes I meet with couples and they ask me what my style is. Even better, sometimes I meet with them and they sweetly tell me what my style is & just why they like it {heart=happy!} Of course every image that pops up on this blog is “my style”, since I don’t know how to shoot in any other way, but I just want to say, for the record, that so many things in this session speak to me. This laughter, this color, this movement, this softness, this light, this joy, this love – this is the stuff that just. feels. right.

And Anh & Todd? They are loving, laidback, and inspiring to be around. They are those types of people who are so full of life that even after a 7-hour drive straight from SF to their session, I felt chock full of energy in their presence :) So excited for their wedding at the Nixon Library this year!

{ amanda + kelly | pasadena engagement }

Meet Amanda. She’s an amazing coordinator and co-founder of Fresh Events Company and has put together some of the most beautiful/creative/flawlessly executed weddings I have seen. And now, it’s her turn! I could go on and on and get real real sappy regarding what an honor it is to have worked alongside her for so many weddings and events, only to have the opportunity to document her own special day, but I’ll save that all for the wedding post :)

For now, I’d just like to say, how cute are these two?? This session was the first time I really got to spend time with Amanda & Kelly together, and watching them interact is the sweetest thing (it’s punny! there’s candy in this session!) – they’re so playful and silly together and I loved how they chose a location that lent itself to these interactions.

Special thanks to Rocket Fizz for letting us run amok in their store & stay tuned for the wedding photos coming up soon! (In summary: Their wedding was amazeballs. I took five hundred million photos. I love my job.)

Bougainvillea! It’s my photographic equivalent to bacon-wrapped hot dogs sold by the side of the road at 2am – I JUST CAN’T WALK BY WITHOUT STOPPING.

{ sherry + tim | san francisco engagement }

This may sound strange, but when a few weeks go by without an SF visit, I start to feel separation anxiety. I begin to miss the city. I miss the different neighborhoods with the colorful Victorian houses. I miss the endless array of fabulous restaurants and bars. I miss my lovely friends. I miss busy downtown (and the huge mall, where I spend too much at H&M, we have H&M’s in LA, I don’t know why I always buy so much at the one in SF, how does that happen?)

Now I’m not about to take off to spend the rest of my days there or anything – there are always moments during SF trips when I miss LA dearly (usually when I’m trying to find parking spots because THEY DO NOT EXIST IN SAN FRANCISCO). But this city will always be a breath of fresh air and source of inspiration to me, and because of this, I adore shooting there.

Especially when frolicking around with a couple as sweet and fun and down-for-anything as Sherry and Tim. The moment when we saw the MUNI train thing we needed to take in the distance and Sherry immediately took off running for it in her heels? That’s when I knew how rad this couple was :) Did I also mention that though sunny, it was freezing that day? How could it be, when they look so good??

I particularly love this session because I feel like it captures so much of what I love about the city…

The quiet, the busy, the touristy, the hidden, the old, the new.

The Bay Bridge, the Ferry Building, a random hilly neighborhood, a pretty skyline.

It’s all good.

This is the part where I talk about the light. Because OMG THE LIGHT!! I DIE!
