{ Gloria + Ed | Summit House Wedding }

My initial meeting with Gloria & Ed was extra exciting in a unique way – when Ed contacted me, he explained that he was looking for a wedding photographer, but he was also interested in chatting with Scott about guitar amps. He had read about Scott’s business on my blog and asked if I could bring him along. Of course Scott excitedly obliged, and so the four of us met in a sunny cafe on a weekend afternoon.

We chatted about weddings for half an hour, and then guitar amps for the other half. (Or more specifically, Scott & Ed chatted about guitar amps and Gloria and I eventually started our own conversations about more girly things :) It’s tons of fun to bond with clients about their wedding, but always exciting when you find other connections to grow mutually excited about. And although I got hopelessly lost somewhere in between “tolex” and “baffle”, I was still brimming with excitement to be finding connections by association :)

Gloria & Ed ‘s wedding was held last month at the beautiful Summit House. Gloria is a talented designer & artist and she put together programs, favors, and other details that took a fresh perspective on the often traditional pink, and were just stunning. They held photography with high importance and allotted an hour before the ceremony for their portraits, and then TWO more hours after the reception for more photos. It was a morning wedding, so after a fun goodbye from the guests, we headed to Cal State Fullerton for photo time galore!

Gloria & Ed – thank you so much for the opportunity to be a part of your day. It was such a beautiful wedding and we are so glad we were able to spend the time with you afterwards – we not only got to take some awesome photos, but we felt we really got to know you both better and had such a fun time running around the campus with you!

I love the old-timey 1950s cinema feel this one has :)

I loved how the handcrafted details were whimsical and not too matchy, but all tied together perfectly. The sign-in table was a wonderful mix of colors and textures!

This little guy was awesome! He walked right up during one of the toasts and quietly waltzed around before returning to his seat:

But the fun isn’t over yet! Stay tuned for photos from our shoot at Cal State Fullerton (and more of that adorable dress!)

{ Sarah + Brad | Cafe Pinot Wedding Photography }

Sometimes, I think my clients just might be superheroes. Take Sarah & Brad for instance – in the span of 2 months, they finished up law school on the east coast, graduated, flew back to LA, studied for and took the bar, and got married. It was a beautiful Jewish ceremony at what is now one of my most favorite venues ever – Cafe Pinot in downtown LA. I am a true LA girl down to my very core, and I fell immediately in love with the little tree-laden park, nestled in the middle of the cafe and the Los Angeles Central Library. Something about the contrast of the calm, green courtyard against the tall skyscrapers that surround it makes it the perfect city venue. And at night, it becomes a spectacle of city lights and such a fresh and classy spot for an outdoor reception!

We also had the honor of photographing the rehearsal (+ a mini engagement session) the night before and it was great so great to getting to know Sarah & Brad at such an exciting time in their lives. Thank you so much for giving us the honor of documenting your wedding!

After a sweet First Look in the lobby of the Biltmore, we headed to Cafe Pinot for portraits…

I LOVE the blue tones Sarah chose for the wedding! It was such a unique choice and was applied so beautifully!

Everyone gathered for the signing of the marriage contract:

More blue tones were incorporated into the petite varied arrangements at the reception – they were so creative and perfect for the long tables!

{ Joy + Richard | Box Eight Wedding Photography }

When I first met with Joy & Richard over a year ago, in just the baby stages of their wedding plans, they excitedly described to me their vision for their wedding. A hip and stylish urban venue. Lush and modern details. Joy explained that she wanted her wedding to be completely unique, a sensory delight for the guests, and laden with personal touches. When she explained that she was looking for a photographer who shared an equal love for details and would be able to capture every last bit, I nodded knowingly, even though I secretly wanted to throw my hand up in the air, wave it wildy, and shriek “me! me!! ooh! pick me!!” :) I was of course, more than a bit excited when they booked us, and loved having the opportunity to get to know this amazing couple and see their visions come to fruition!

They ultimately chose Box Eight as the backdrop for their special day, a downtown LA loft which was transformed into a metropolitan paradise. Lush florals were draped in the most unique and inspired ways, courtesy of Le Petit Gardenia’s creative genius. All of the above was coordinated by Amanda of Fresh Events Company, who brought Joy and Richard’s ideas to life and put on one of the most smooth-sailing and artistic weddings I’ve seen to date.

Joy & Richard -thank you so much for the chance to be a part of your amazing wedding!  You both radiated so much love and happiness the entire time and it was such an honor to capture the moments that filled your day!

In case you couldn’t guess, I was absolutely infatuated with Joy’s dress. I’m a sucker for dresses with loads of soft airy layers!

And then it was on to Box Eight. It has a feel similar to the Marvimon House and is definitely one of the most hip and modern venues we’ve shot at to date. Alison of Le Petit Gardenia did a beyond amazing job creating floral art pieces that fit perfectly with the vibe of the venue.

And now.. *deep breath*… the details! Not a corner was left undone! I was especially giddy about the birdcage coupled with this beautiful arrangement…

The tables were named after various wines and a beautiful and mod seating chart was created to guide the guests to their seats:

As a special surprise for the guests, Joy & Richard had a taco truck arrive at the end of the night! Coolest (and yummiest) idea ever!
