Kelley & Edmund love the movie Up, and wanted to incorporate tons of balloons into their session as a tribute to the film. Armed with a helium tank, a spool of ribbon, and scissors, we pushed through finger cramps and blew up & tied about 40 colorful balloons in the parking lot for the shoot. I adore Up as well {even though I always end up bawling literally 10 minutes into it, how does that happen, THE MOVIE JUST STARTED} and am so glad we could incorporate a bit of its inspiration into their session!

Can’t wait for their wedding at the Smog Shoppe this fall!

{ sara + tri | downtown los angeles engagement }

This session makes my heart so so happy. Brightly-patterned skirts, a pretty bouquet, tall buildings, open fields, a fantastic couple – all shot in this city I love so much. I’ve been going on some photo adventures recently shooting personal work (on film!), and I feel like it’s given me a newfound adoration for LA. Because it has a bad rap sometimes doesn’t it? Urban sprawl, crowded, superficial, trafficky…. But if you care to really explore and see – it’s full of the most amazing little locations.

We started in downtown, rode Angel’s Flight, strolled through Angel’s Knoll Park {500 Days of Summer!}, frolicked by fountains, then finished in a sunlit field in Griffith Park, where the most awesome vintage motorcycle was awaiting us (thanks to Tri’s brother!)

Sara & Tri are fun-loving, laidback, adventurous, and I loved exploring with them! And if for any reason LA has not yet won over your heart, I hope these photos help change your mind…

{ deena + mas | los angeles engagement }

I love when sessions unfold like this – laidback, organic, real. All lifestyle-like, as if I just happened to accompany them on an evening stroll. And on this particular stroll, Deena & Mas brought along their too-adorable-for-words puppy for the first half, and a couple bottles of wine for the second :) They love visiting wineries together & sharing a bottle at the end of day and I’m happy that we could incorporate some al fresco wine tasting into their session!

Deena & Mas are seriously the sweetest, and I loved spending the afternoon with them!

I am so in love with Deena’s Anthropologie dress… reminds me of Japanese indigo patterns which are my fave…

I think these are some of my favorite portraits ever…

Wine!
