On an especially warm winter afternoon, I met up with Nicole and Jackie in Los Feliz for their engagement session. We met by Figaro Cafe {one of the cutest little bistros around… their fruit tarts are to die for!}, strolled around the neighborhood, and then head up to Griffith Park for a pretty blend of nature and amazing architecture.

Even though up until that point we had only corresponded via email, it seriously felt like an afternoon hanging out with old friends! Nicole and Jackie are laidback, witty, and smart {both are fabulous attorneys!} and it was quite the perfect day, running around the neighborhood and getting to capture their sweet relationship and interactions :)

Happy new year! Here’s a lovely wintery beach session to start off your 2013! How lucky are we here in so cal that we can visit the beach year round? And how lucky are Emily and Cody that they live just a few blocks from the shore? We shot their engagement session along the beach in Hermosa, the same spot where he proposed :)

I know it’s been quiet here on the blog over the holidays, but I’ve been lining up lots of sweet weddings and sessions to share, so stay tuned! :)

That “click” that I look for with couples? The one at the initial meeting {that feels a bit like a first date}, where we’re getting to know each other over coffee and tea, connecting through our personalities, finding the ground where my photos match their visions? I felt that click with Jenny and Randall right away :) I was so excited when they chose me as their photographer and knew that their engagement session would be just amazing! I was so on board with their idea of Cal State Northridge, the place where they fell in love – we wandered through the orange groves and finished up at the art department where they first met. As we sat along the nostalgic tables, covered with beautiful scribbles from various art students, and they painted lovely bird houses, just a few of the dozens that will make appearances throughout their wedding day.

I seriously had so much fun exploring the campus with them and can’t wait until their wedding!
