Last spring, I had the fortune of photographing a beautiful courthouse wedding in Beverly Hills, and immediately fell in love with documenting sweet intimate ceremonies like that. I secretly hoped that more would come my way, and happily this year had not one but two(!) couples stumble across my blog & contact me who were also getting married there. The kicker? It turns out both inquiries were for the same exact same date! Luckily their ceremony times worked out perfectly so that I was able to photograph both, as well as a collection of pretty portraits afterwards. The Beverly Hills Courthouse is located in the most picturesque little neighborhood, so there are all kinds of cute parks and patches of greenery just steps away from the courthouse doors!

I’m excited to share photos from both ceremonies with you, but we’ll start with Amy & Konrad. Konrad currently lives in LA, but literally everyone else flew into the city for this wedding. Amy from Florida, her parents from New York, his parents from Australia! The small room at the courthouse was full of bustling energy and so so much joy. So thankful that Amy’s mother found me online from across the country & I was able to be a part of this special day!

Could you guess where this wedding took place while scrolling through the photos? A pretty mountain lodge? A cozy crafstman-style resort? Would you guess it was at the happiest place on earth? :)

Tim & Cynthia were married at the stunning Grand Californian hotel, part of the Disneyland resort in Orange County. Disneyland is one of my favorite places with its brightness, youthful atmosphere, bustling energy (and churros, THE CHURROS) – and I loved that the Grand Californian was able to maintain this spirit but in a way that is also elegant, relaxed, and beautifully classy. We had some ridiculously soft & lovely light to work with, and I love the portraits we were able to get around the grounds. So blessed to be a part of this wonderful day!

{ nisha + woody | skirball center wedding }

At Nisha & Woody’s wedding, there was quite a bit of talk about opposites. Like that Woody is an artist and Nisha is an attorney. That one is right-brained, one is left. One is a dreamer while the other is more logical. One is passionately into fashion (and shoes!) while the other is not quite as much {hint: it’s not who you think it is!} But that even as opposites, it works. They work. That Nisha & Woody, with their pieces that are both similar and very different, somehow fit each other perfectly.

And though probably unintentional, I feel like this idea of complementing opposites spilled over into other aspects of their wedding day. Like how Nisha & Woody are probably some of the most laidback and chill people I have ever met ever, but that the wedding day was still planned out to a T and went off literally without a hitch. Or that the Skirball Center is a very modern venue with sharp lines, concrete, and muted grey tones, but that it was filled to the brim with romantic details – whimsical flowers, soft pinks, pretty designs (how cute are those programs??) Again, it all fit together perfectly!

And as always, Fresh Events did a stellar job planning and coordinating the day, I so love working with those girls!
