{ eileen + gray // an intimate summer wedding }

I’m not sure how to even begin to describe this wedding to do it justice.

Eileen and Gray contacted me to photograph their intimate Thursday wedding. In attendance would be just their immediate families – Eileen’s side from so cal and Gray’s from Hawaii. Unfortunately leading up to the wedding, they found that due to health issues, Gray’s mother wouldn’t be able to fly over and attend. A few days before the wedding, they called to tell me that Eileen’s sister needed to be on bed rest due to her pregnancy and also wouldn’t be able to be there.

Now let me tell you the part that despite these developments, this was one of the happiest and most joy-filled weddings I have ever photographed. Gray’s father and brother flew in and thanks to technology, were able to Skype in her mother for not just the ceremony, but for the getting ready parts, after they got their make-up done, and put on their dresses. Eileen and Gray decided to get ready at her sister’s place, so she was able to be a part of that portion of the day as well, and send her sister off with a hug before also being able to watch the ceremony via Skype. Every photo you see below with a person holding up a phone or an iPad means that on the other side of it was a loved one who could be a part of the day. It was literally one of the most wonderful things I’ve witnessed.

As if all of that wasn’t special enough, during their portraits, Eileen and Gray asked me if they could climb a tree, and quietly sang to each other as they just enjoyed each other’s presence. Then they walked back to their where their families were and in a small quiet clearing, did their first dance, to a song that Gray’s brother had sang and recorded. Gray told me that it was the song her grandfather used to sing to her grandmother every year.

I could seriously go on and on about this day, but again I feel I can’t even begin to describe the love that was there filling up every moment, in every corner. Thankfully there are photos to help :)

{ megan + nevin // ambassador mansion wedding }

This wedding! You might as well cozy up with a cup of tea because this is going to be quite the post. But I promise you’ll love every last bit of it! Megan & Nevin wanted a day that incorporated both their cultures {Indian & British/American} and held two ceremonies, accompanied by an English tea and Indian dinner. There was an elephant, a procession of dancing to the altar, and a beautiful Hindu ceremony. There were opulent florals, long dessert tables, seersucker suits, and romantic vows. And to top it all off, there was the most lovely blush pink dress you ever did set your eyes on. The Ambassador Mansion, with its marble floors and wide green lawns, provided the perfect backdrop for this immensely romantic & jubilant day.

A huge thank you to Style Me Pretty for featuring this wedding! Head over to the post here to see & read more!

{ recent adventures }

I realized it’s been awhile since I’ve done a personal post and thought I’d share a bit of what I’ve been up to outside of shooting weddings & sessions! Though I don’t bring my SLR {which I very professionally refer to as my “big camera”} everywhere I go, I do always have my phone on hand and love documenting pieces of everyday life. Be sure to follow me on instagram for more!

a peek into a random day’s workspace: tea (a daily must!), cuties & inspiration via west elm’s latest catalog // this is one of the canvases that hangs in my studio – lots of meetings with awesome couples recently!

over the weekend we had a picnic at a winery! there was live music & dancing and we munched on turkey caprese sandwiches, cauliflower soup & earl grey chocolate macarons. (by the way cauliflower is the new brussel sprouts guys.)

last month i hung out with my friend & fellow photog serena in santa barbara. we had coffee at the gorgeous santa barbara public market, walked down state street to the beach, and did a bit of wine tasting!

i am so obsessed with this flower crown. i have this idea that flower crowns should be acceptable daily wear. you with me? // loved this lunch at faith & flower in downtown LA. it was voted winner of “most stunning new restaurant” by eater and also happened to win the “OMG it’s so cute” award by me. highly recommended!

I hope to be better about doing these little updates in the future, but in the meantime, you can follow me here! Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!
