{ Megan & Curtis: Married! }

One of the most heartwarming things to me is a couple who laughs together. To me, synced-up senses of humor are sexier than candlelight dinners. An intimate joke is more romantic than a bouquet of roses. Silly faces are sweeter than any box of chocolates. A couple that laughs together, stays together, isn’t that what they say? Those words kept popping up in my head during Megan and Curtis’s beautiful Palos Verdes wedding, held at the gorgeous Point Vicente Interpretive Center. They were both so laidback, so real, and shared the sweetest laughs together. They were a beautiful reminder of how it feels when your soulmate is also your best friend.

Thank you to Dave Richards for having me along to second shoot. I love shooting with him – he is so knowledgeable and every wedding I’ve accompanied him to has been beautiful and just downright FUN!

Walking down the “aisle”, which was really a beautiful winding road right along the ocean:

So in love…

These trees with their delicate arrangements were my favorite! I could have filled up a memory card with just straight-up tree shots. They later brought them inside to decorate the reception as well – genius!

A glance at the cheering guests:

Their wedding had a beautiful ocean-inspired collection of details:

Even Megan’s hair was even adorned with starfish!

Some portraits…

As we moved from one spot to another I went to pick up Megan’s shoes (which she had abandoned for a couple shots… every girl knows how good it feels to free your feet!!). To my pleasant surprise, I found one of the shoes flipped over to reveal these sweet messages!

They had a steel drum band playing awesome music during the cocktail hour:

Joyful toasts during the reception (Megan’s father informed us that Curtis initially wanted a “pirate” themed wedding!)

One last view from the venue…

{ Furious Photographers Workshop }

I remember when I attended the first Furious Photographers workshop. Boy was I excited. But I was also nervous. I was fidgety. I had more than a couple butterflies milling around inside of me. After all, I was as newbie as newbie gets.

Fast forward a bit to the 2nd Furious Photographers workshop and just a few things have changed. I came this time with a better knowledge of my camera. A couple more lenses. A few more memory cards. A cool bag to hold it all in. And though I still had a bit of that nervous-excited feeling in my tummy I also felt this awesome reassuring calm that hey, these are a bunch of cool dudes. Dudes who don’t mind that I am a newbie – who in fact embrace my newbieness (and everyone else’s newbieness) and kindly show us the ropes. Fun, helpful dudes who led an awesome first workshop and a top-of-the-notch 2nd one as well!!

For this one we met at their killer home studio and learned some of the business side of wedding photography before heading off on an awesome shoot in downtown LA. Gavin of Gavin Photography led us to an explosion of rainbow colors… I can’t believe I never knew this place existed! After shooting there we went back to the studio and covered some post-processing techniques. Fun and informative, doesn’t get much better than that!

A big thank you to Andrew and Megan – the gorgeous models who could not take a bad picture if they tried their darndest, to Peter for referring them, and All Made Up for their dazzling make-up and hair artistry. And of course to the FP team for an amazing day!

Aren’t they both gorgeous?

And now for a few behind-the-scenes photos…

At the end of the day the Furious Photographers took a quick group photo! See the final result on their blog:

{ Megan + Jordan | Los Angeles Wedding Photography }

“I can’t wait to see what she looks like,” Jordan smiled as he stood against the hotel room window. The guys’ getting-ready room was indeed full of manliness – drinking beers, cracking jokes, helping one another tie their manly ties – but in that confessional moment there was a glimpse of softness and love. Glimpses that continued throughout the rest of the day – in the long looks Jordan gave Megan during the ceremony, the secret smiles they shared in the crowded reception hall, their laughs on the dance floor. As was stated over and over again in the toast speeches, you could really see that they were perfect for each other!

A big thank you to Dave Richardsfor inviting me to tag along and for sharing his awesome expertise with me. And to Megan & Jordan for letting me be a part of their amazingly fun day!

I usually like to obsessively-compulsively blog the day in order, but I just can’t resist starting off with these first couple shots since they show off their spectacular wedding colors! Can’t get enough of the red:

**And now back to our regularly scheduled chronological post**

Jordan relaxes in the hotel room:

Megan & Jordan were married at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Los Angeles. It was breathtaking – and had special meaning since Megan’s parents were also married here!

After the ceremony it was a short drive to the Wilshire Country Club for the reception. Cue the detail shots! I love the choice of gerber daisies – they’re my fave:

A few portraits…

Megan was radiant :)

Their first dance was choreographed and absolutely adorable:

I love this shot because there were so many moments like this throughout the day – little intimate we-are-so-in-hopelessly-in-love moments!

A beautiful father daughter dance…

And of course the mother-son dance as well:

And while we’re on the topic of dancing, can I just say that Megan & Jordan’s entire set of family and friends know how to break it down like no other?? All ages, big and small – I was having so much fun just running around the dance floor capturing everyone’s moves:

One last shot of the night!
